Partners In Care, Quest, MedPlus, and SureScripts Join Together for E-Prescription Grant Application

Partners In Care has agreed to provide its support to SureScripts in their pursuit of a Grant from the Department of Health and Human Services to test E-Prescribing Standards.

Partners In Care has agreed to work with SureScripts, MedPlus, and Quest to assist in demonstrating the technical and functional characteristics of the standards using the Quest/MedPlus Care360 Physician Portal.  PIC has also agreed to identify specific physician locations to support the demonstration and to provide PIC staff for both liaison and research functions.

SureScripts (http://www.surescripts.com) was founded in 2001 by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) and the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of the overall prescribing process. The SureScripts Electronic Prescribing Network is the largest network to link electronic communications between pharmacies and physicians, allowing the electronic exchange of prescription information.

MedPlus (http://www.medplus.com), a subsidiary of Quest Diagnostics (http://www.questdiagnostics.com) , is an established leader offering products and services that enable health care professionals to efficiently collect, store, retrieve and manage medical information.

Since its inception in 1991, MedPlus has provided state of the art information technology and products to its customers in the health care industry. MedPlus continues to develop systems that enable health care providers to more efficiently collect, store, retrieve and manage clinical and financial information. Our technologies and services are designed to enable health care providers to achieve critical productivity goals, information integration goals, and cost containment goals imposed by economic pressures and growing statutory and regulatory requirements.

MedPlus entered the healthcare technology industry with the Intellicode™ Intelligent Bar Code System, introduced in 1991. In a seven year period, the Intellicode system was installed in over 700 hospitals. In 1998, the Intellicode line of business was sold to Becton Dickinson.

Today, MedPlus offers three major healthcare information technology products: the Care360™ Physician Portal for patient information management; the ChartMaxx™ Enterprise Wide Patient Record System introduced in 1995; and the OptiMaxx® Optical Information Management System introduced in 1993. Care360 is the electronic network for accessing, storing and sharing patient-specific clinical data and includes the eMaxx Physician Portal and the Lab Orders and Results solutions.
