PIC Mammography Outreach Program

Throughout the years, Partners In Care has provided charitable donations to the local non-profit healthcare organizations in Central New Jersey including hospitals and programs such as the “Walk for the Cure”.

This year, we have added to that tradition. Our physician leadership challenged the staff at Partners In Care to create a program around preventive health care which would give years of life to a substantial number of our patients. For our initial project, we selected a goal of ensuring that 100% of our women patients over 40 years of age receive an annual mammogram. Our plan is to continue with additional preventive health projects throughout the year.

With one out of nine of our mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, and grand-daughters destined to be diagnosed with breast cancer, we know that early diagnosis is today’s best strategy to ensure that if diagnosed, they retain the best chances of survival.

When we analyzed the data we could only identify 40% of our patients who have shown evidence of having received a mammography in the last year. This left us with over 6,000 women in our sample who apparently need to have this routine test completed.

We are asking everyone to speak openly with their families, friends, and colleagues about this important topic. Perhaps even considering adopting your mother, your daughter, or a close friend as someone who you will persuade to ensure they get on an annual schedule of receiving this important test.
