Reinsurers have the unenviable job of financing the most costly health care services, many times with little or no notice, and once the obligation has been transferred, it sometimes feels like nobody is paying attention anymore because … well … the case has now gone to the Stop Loss Carrier.

Then, when its time to recoup your losses, a competitor swoops in and undercuts your premium increase and you now have to find another client yourself to make the money back. The cycle repeats over and over and over … and then everyone wonders why Reinsurance rates are rising.

What we have learned over the years is that there is really no free way out of this. As a self funded pool, you may be able to escape the exposure once or twice but your unmanaged experience catches up.

For this reason, we have built a series of services designed to assist in the management of the medium to high cost acute and chronic patient base. These services begin with identification and focus on health status improvement, proactive screening, early diagnosis, and aggressive early stage treatment.

Then, for those cases that have tripped the Stop Loss Recovery levels, we will manage the case in conjunction with you as clinically effectively as possible. Many times this results in reduced Excess Loss payments. But just as importantly, we work to eliminate surprises for both entities and ensure that the risk profile from both clinical and administrative standpoints is mitigated as much as possible.
